Validation, logic and answer piping
Required questions, limits and formats, showing questions conditionally, and reusing earlier answers.
Required questions
Turn on Required for a question and the form cannot be submitted without an answer. Required questions show a red asterisk.
Validation rules
- Text length. Set a minimum and maximum number of characters.
- Number range. Set a minimum and maximum value.
- Format. Restrict a short text answer to a URL, a phone number or digits only.
- Rules are enforced on the server as well as in the browser, so they hold even if someone bypasses the page.
Show a question only if…
Under a question's options you can add a show only if rule that points at an earlier question and a value. The question appears only when that earlier answer matches. Hidden questions are not required and are not saved.
Tip:Example: ask “Which product?” with options, then show “What went wrong?” only if the answer is “Something broke”.
Answer piping
Write {{Question label}} in a later question's label, description or in the thank-you message and it is replaced with that question's answer. Use the label text exactly as written. An unanswered reference becomes empty.
